Zlin Z-50LX, in the fall of 1973 was decided in Moravan Otrokovice to develop a new single aerobatic model. Chef-prepared designer Jan Mikula and his colleagues project with type symbol Zlin Z-50. While the computer optimization of construction for better aerodynamic characteristics were used. The main problem of the construction was to determine the best engine for this aerobatic aircraft. As there were no engines to meet the needs of the aerobatic team in Czechoslovakia, designers had to find an engine out of the country. They found American Avco Lycoming AIO-540 D4B5 with a power of 191 kW and Hartzell three-bladed propeller. The second requirement for this aerobatic plane was maximal unloading of the structure. Therefore, the designers used the wing continues, which was bolted to the cell. This type of wing is better with his weight loss for life. The suspension is continuously removed from a piece of titanium band. Tiny metal layer covers the cell, parts of the tail and elevator are covered with a cloth. The main tank holds 60 gallons of fuel, the need for artificial flight, for cross-country flight is almost impossible to fly without additional removable tanks at both ends of the wings. Project work, design and construction of the first prototype took only a year and a half. Made of 30 June 1975 the engine was tested. The first flight was July 18, 1975, was undertaken with the chief pilot Vlastimil Berg. The first Zlin Z-50 L-070 Mark was OK. Set the first flight was very successful and confirmed all the designers on the scene. Czech display team for this aircraft was at the World Championship 1976 Special aerobatic With Zlin Z-50 L-type grown first special aerobatic aircraft manufactured in the world. It was to be built by the FAR provisions and pilots fly many aerobatic maneuvers from 9 G – 6G. In 1981, was installed in the Zlin Z-50 Textron Lycoming AEIO-540 more L1B5D with 224 kW (300 hp). This version – type Zlin Z-50 LS – was first by Zdenek Polasek Led by 29th July 1981. The more powerful engine, particularly the increased vertical maneuvers. Zlin Z-50 LS can fly with a weight of 760 kg of G-8 6G in aerobatic planes (Class A) and between 3.8 and -1.5 N category. Many versions of Z-50-L and LA have been built up Z-50 LS in the eighties again. Another version is made Zlin Z-50 Aircraft “Baby fifty” – Z-50M with the lowest Avia M-137AZ engine with 132 kW (180 hp). It was for the replacement of old and uncomfortable Z 526AFS, often leading to N (normal) were converted category and are still considered a tow aircraft to the Aero Club built many airports. Z-50M is capable of 7 to -5.5 G G. Z-50M fly only eight machines were produced. In April 1990, prepared for its maiden flight, modified Z-50 LS, now under the Z-50 (experimental). He had changed wings for better handling. This species was only a prototype. The latest version of Zlin 50 is known as Z-50 LX. Z-50lx had its maiden flight in 1991 by the chief pilot Vladimir Peroutka. An important contribution to the development of this level has also built a pilot Victor Norman, the auxiliary tanks in the wings and strong “smoke” of the system for shows and I wanted. From 1992 to 1995, 7 rooms built Z-50 lux, and four of them are used by the popular and fabulous Red Bull Flying Bulls.
